Found a vintage UNISKI. What is this? |

I collect vintage snowboards and came across this at a Bozeman, MT yard sale recently. Does anyone have any history on this deck? A google search brought up
nothing. Here are the pics. Any help would be appreciated.

outwesty ....try e-mailing your pics to monoskiguru@monoski.net Got any pics of the base? The tail looks like the edges would end where it tapers by the unique
logo. Is it flat or does it have camber? Is it thick like a World board? How 'bout a side shot? Cool piece of history, powder board for sure. -Henry

Try mailing the pix to Scott at scott@chronicski.biz . He won't get to it right away,
I suspect he's pretty busy this time of year...

I think I still have the original trifold pamphlet for these. I know it came out in the early 90's.
These guys spurred off from World Ski Inc and or just flat out copied them. I don't think they ever made too many of these. I'll check with Turbo, I think he remembers the Uniski story. I found a World/Unski copy on ebay years back that I had never seen or heard of. I wonder if Jered from "Fear the Groove" had anything to do with the Uniski company??? I vaguely remember them having a more pronounced sidecut finishing about a foot from the tail and tapering back down. This one looks like it stops then tapers... The Monoski Directory is defunct and so is the e-mail. I'll be merging all this info into my Chronic sight for this coming season. Cool find! I'd love complete length photos of this ski of the top and bottom... hell, I'd love to have this ski for the collection. |

I collect weird oddball stuff and this looks pretty cool in the collection but I am not a monoskier and this should go to someone that will appreciate it more.
what is something like this worth? go ahead and make an offer if you wish.

Hey again,
Monoskis don't have a lot of collectible value like old classic snowboards. I pay $100 for old boards broken or not if I don't have 'em in the archives. Many of the boards in my collection I got from Europe for $10 to $25 each or take them in trade for new monoskis for $100 off. Maybe someday they'll be worth something, but unless the monoski makes it big, they'll probably never have much value. This one looks like it's in pretty good shape, but I heard they skied pretty crappy. With shipping included, the most I'd pay for it is $150 I have a few very old brand new monoskis, never mounted that I paid $100 each. So, there ya have it. |
