Not a friendly welcome??? We usually don't book the house until November. $10,000+ potentially for the house this year, maybe we could get someone who's rich to take care of us in April and pay for the house up front the year prior so we can appear more friendly???????????????? I'm sure I'll pay for everything up front and then start collecting $$$ just like usual. Alex and Mal, you're confusing me and for some reason making this not seem very fun. Thanks Don for stepping in with the knowledge of the fun and the good vibe factor!
Those who voted knew the prices, we all knew it would be expensive this year. And yes WE voted for where to go, as in group effort to decide... now time for a logistical feat 8^) There should be no complaining only excitement to get together with friends and tear up a new mountain that hardly anyone ever skis because of it's location and price!!! We made a BOLD move this year to do this in Aspen
IF... that is IF we get a big enough house, floor space will be available for $50 a head per night probably with a $200 minimum. We can usually do floor for $25 a night and a $100 min. There was no intent in being unfriendly by sealing the house and I like Monodudes idea of having the European visitors that want to organize their own house doing so on their own. This could be a good goal for the future if it eliminates complaints.
On VRBO, I'm still seeing plenty of 2 bedrooms with sleeper sofas and floor space for under $400 a night, I'm sure you can sleep 8 in a 2 bedroom condo. That's $50 a night or however you'd want to break it up. I'm seeing studio's for under $200 a night... put 4 on the floor!
We don't do Monopalooza in the same place every year... logistically this is much harder than staying at the same resort every year with sponsorship. I could only imagine how easy it would be to organize MonoP at Copper Mtn. every year.... but the group likes to ski different resorts and that is what MonoP is... a combined group effort to have fun in new places each year. Tahoe, Colorado, Utah, Tahoe, Colorado, Utah. This is the group schedule we've all decided on as well, and mainly to cater to out of country visitors taking 2 week trips, so they can enjoy multiple resort experiences.
The goal of Monopalooza is simply to hang out and have fun with other monoskiers. Really, that's it and it is fun as hell. We don't rent mansions to be cheap either, we've simply discovered that renting big beautiful homes kicks ass!
Whistler? Fiasco??? there was hardly anyone there but I had a freakin' blast!!! FYI, I took in business development capitol that year and ran a demo tour, sold and boxed boards, managed employees, delt with production, was the only secretary and simply put... spent 18 hours a day working and had no time and even with sending out hundreds of e-mails, people simply didn't come to Whistler. Thanks for the support Mal! I managed to meet some of my current best friends during that trip and am more thankful for MonoP Whistler than perhaps any of them.
I know how cheap France is to ski, I usually stay at friends places, and can often ski for free but tickets are still $50+ per day. Except for a few resorts here in the US, you can almost always find deals in that price range.
Aspen is not a place to go to find deals... It is Aspen and whether we have 20 people or 120 I bet it's going to be as much fun as any person could ever have in their life.
